JIM WILSON MEMORIAL AWARD

Lion Jim Wilson was District Governor for District 19E, Lions Clubs International during the year 1988-1989. He was a member of the Spokane Manito Lions Club. Lion Jim was a pilot for the
USAF and USAF Reserves for several years flying B-52’s, C-124’s. C-130’s and C-141’s. He also was a pilot for Braniff Airlines. Lion Jim served as the Police Commissioner and twice as Mayor of Spirit Lake, Idaho. In Lions, Jim was a 100% President, Secretary and Zone Chairperson and received numerous club and district awards.

Lion Jim was very proud to serve as a District Governor due to the care, concern, effort, dedication and Leadership the Lions put forth in the District. After Lion Jim’s death a few District Lions
were talking with Lion Jim’s wife Pat and it was decided to honor Jim’s legacy in District 19E with an award specifically dedicated for those District Lions that demonstrate the Leadership qualities that Jim believed.

To that end, the Jim Wilson Memorial Award was established. At the beginning the award was funded by donation of Lions Pins and memorabilia from the collection of Lion Jim. To this day Lions
in District 19E continue to donate pins to help fund the award.Individual Lions that have been involved with administering the award are: Lion Pat Wilson, Lions Glen and Jeanette Leyden, PDG Bill Brewer and Lions Mike and Kim White. Mike and Kim continue collecting pins and other items and administer the Jim Wilson Memorial Award at this writing.
