Global Action Team, Membership October 17, 2022 Cabinet Meeting Great news that our clubs are working on inducting new members, and that over 20 of our clubs have ‘Membership Chairpersons’. Why should a club have a membership chairperson, when all Lions are actively engaged in promoting membership and hopefully bringing in new members? The role of the membership chairperson is to bring focus on bringing in new members to the club, but also the new member’s involvement in service in their first year as Lions. The membership chairperson can serve in the role of making sure that a ‘mentor’ from the club is working with the new member. (a mentor is not necessarily the sponsor) Starting with the 6 clubs in Zone D10, since they are the most remote, and have not had a Zone Chairperson for several years, I have contacted each club and am mailing membership growth materials to them. (I am mailing from Penticton as it’s cheaper to mail to the Cariboo region from there than from Leavenworth) The not great news is our district is still dropping in total membership, as we are now at 977 members, a drop of 19 since July 1, 2022. Let’s focus on the positive, but also work hard to bring in some new Lions. Submitted by Joyce Stevens Jstevens98826@gmail.com 509-670-7527
