January Bulletin 19D3-8-10 D8ZC: Karen Bassett 564 Lakeshore Drive, Chase, BC, V0E-1M0 kb1@telus.net 250-318-4527 D8 ZC Karen’s Remarks It’s January, and we welcome 2023. I hope this new year is happy, healthy, and prosperous for all. Clubs were busy last month doing Christmas activities, parades, and parties. Hopefully everyone enjoyed their holiday season. News from all around D8, “Inspire through Service ” Occasionally I look through Clubs Facebook pages looking to see what other clubs are doing, looking for info for my bulletins, or just looking for new ideas. I am noticing that alot of clubs do not update their Facebook pages, while some Clubs are doing a fabulous job of keeping their areas up to date. Try to find someone in your club (doesn’t have to be the Secretary) that is interested in doing your Facebook page. If your club has no upcoming activity to share; try posting things like always looking for new members, cleaning tips, environmental ideas, eye glass collection locations, recipes, or any other community events. Keep your page fresh so that when potential new members decide to google you, you will look like an active engaged community club, not just a stagnant, unused Facebook page. What ’s your club doing ? Please let me know. I would love to hear from you. Don’t Forget to do your MMR’s before the 20th. My Zone Chair Visitation Schedule for the New Year, is as follows: Sorrento Lions Club - Jan 19, 2023 North Kamloops Lions - Feb 7, 2023 Barriere - March 1, 2023 North Shuswap Lions - March 23, 2023 Chase Lions - March 23, 2023 If any of these dates do not work for your club please let me know. Thank you for your time. Zone Chairs? A very rewarding experience Have you ever given thought to being one? It’s an easy job. You get to visit the clubs in your Zone twice. They usually provide a meal or snacks, sometimes even a gift. The paperwork is minimal, and it really doesn’t take alot of your time. We really need Zone Chairs for the upcoming new year, 2023-2024. I need your help Please email to me all the locations that each of your clubs have an eye glass collection box. Many people call CLERC in Calgary and ask for the locations for collection boxes nearest to them. We are working on creating a data base of collection sites within each town, and District. If each club could shoot me a quick email outlining where your collection boxes are located, I can collectively forward that info over to CLERC in Calgary. Thank you so much for all you do.
