Winter Cabinet - 11 February 2023 CHILDHOOD CANCER International Childhood Cancer Day is celebrated annually on February 15th to raise awareness and to express support for children and adolescents with cancer, survivors and their families. About 1 in 285 children will develop cancer before the age of 20. Among children, leukemia is the most commonly occurring type of cancer (33%); followed by brain and nervous system cancers (20%) and lymphomas (11%). Canuck Place Children's Hospice in Vancouver is BC and the Yukon's only pediatric palliative care provider for children with life-threatening illnesses.
