Zone Chair D1: Sharon Cain Cabinet Meeting Report, October 16 @ 9 AM at Penticton Lakeside Resort DG Debbie, fellow Lions, Since our August Cabinet meeting, Zone 1 has been busy. Sept. 6 – zone chair visit to Lumby Lions Club Sept. 18 – first Zone meeting of this Lions year. Held at my home with the Vernon Lions Club hosting. Only 2 of the 5 clubs in our zone attended. The main topics covered were service and membership. Lumby and Vernon Clubs are ready for vision screening in District 22 School District beginning Oct. 17 to Nov. 17. Together the two clubs have 14 schools plus 5 private schools. The age groups to be tested are Kindergarten, Grade 3 and Grade 6. A training session for those volunteering to screen was held Oct. 3. Lots of enthusiasm. Enderby and Armstrong clubs will be trained to use the vision screener and School District 83 will set up a schedule for their schools. The School District is asking to include Sicamous, Revelstoke and Falkland schools as well. Sept 22 – zone chair visit to Enderby Lions Club. I was asked to induct 8 new members and to preform their official installation of this year’s board. This is the 75 Anniversary year for Enderby club. They celebrated Oct 1 with a street pancake breakfast, music and other entertainment. They shared this 75th anniversary with the local Jewelry store also celebrating 75 years in Enderby. October 6 – zone chair visit to Vernon Lions Club. October 12 – zone chair visit to Armstrong Club. Working with them to get up to date with reporting -mmr’s, activity, board members, etc. All new board and needing much guidance. The remainder of October and Nov. 1 will be DG visits to our five clubs. Respectfully submitted Sharon Cain
