HUNGER REPORT, DISTRICT 19-I CABINET MEETING, WENATCHEE WA, USA MARCH 15, 2025 Hello Lions of District I Cabinet….and beyond, I am remiss in getting an article in the District I Newsletter and will do that after this cabinet meeting. I will also send it to the ZCs to be forwarded out to each club. Thank you, in advance, to those passing it on. Once again, with spring approaching, local food banks need your help. In my previous report I suggested the following:  Designating one Lion’s meeting a month, where Lions bring food donations.  Holding a food drive, working in conjunction with a store and food bank.  Assist another organization putting on a free meal.  Or plan one yourself!  Challenge another organization, like Rotary, to compete in a food drive. (I can’t help thinking that we’ll win hands down!) Thanks to PDG Deb Bostock for information she got to me about the District and Club Community Impact Grants (DCG). I’m a slow learner and still trying to absorb and understand the info. Perhaps I can copy/scan and send that onto ZCs to share with clubs. Very exciting news regarding a club taking on hunger with an amazing project!!! The Lake Country Lions Club has offered to match, up to a total of $5,000, toward the purchase of a refrigerated truck. This truck would complement the local food bank delivery in Zone 10, for Armstrong, Vernon, Enderby, and Lake Country. Lion Rod Derkson, a driving force behind this project, will report the progress on this project at the Zone 10 meeting on April 27 th . Thus far the Armstrong Lions have responded, donating $500. Way to go, you Rock!! I hope to ask our club administrator to tag hunger projects that occur in our District I over the year. Then I can share that information. Meantime, let no one go hungry.
