Cabinet Meeting Via Zoom December 2nd, 2023 LCIF Coordinator BC Report DG Michael and fellow cabinet members I attended the Canadian LCIF Retreat in Toronto August 10th – 12th. It was very informative and I came away with lots of information on Grants, Legacy program, Lions of Canada Fund for LCIF and much more. I also am attempting to attend monthly meetings with the other Canadian coordinators. Unfortunately I have missed the last couple due to commitments. We were awarded an Emergency Grant for the Bush Creek Fire and the North Shuswap Lions spent the entire grant of just over$13,000 on boxes of cleaning supplies and kitchen staples for residents who had been evacuated and to return to homes that needed cleaning and replenishing due to having to discard a lot of items. We are now in the process of raising money for a matching grant of up to $100,000us. So far we are at approx. $60,000cdn with monies donated or pledged. We have had some big donations, $25,000, 3 $10,000, 2 $1,500 and several smaller amounts. Not a lot of clubs have donated to LCIF. Please remember that all donations to LCIF go right back out, no funds are kept back for overhead expenses. As well Canadians can now get a tax receipt for their personal donations. Just make sure you mail the donation to Lions of Canada Fund for LCIF / C/O Stan Durward / Box 38 / Sunderland, Ontario L0C 1H0. Our District has benefited with grants in the past and of course this latest Emergency Grant. Respectively Submitted PDG Debbie Bostock
