Not confirmed yet MD 19 CARE Project 2023-25 Northern Honduras The program for this year continues to help supply energy in Honduras by converting pig manure into energy. Creating better opportunities for rural farming families in Northern Honduras urgently requires addressing the causes of climate change. That is a complex and long-term challenge, but a relatively simple step is to reduce the burning of wood as a household fuel, substituting biogas. Experience has shown that rural communities can readily produce clean biogas by processing organic waste such as pig manure using biodigesters – a simple, sustainable technology. With support from Multiple District 19 Lions we will be able to introduce this technology to four communities in Northern Honduras, not only bringing immediate benefits to the selected families but also showcasing the technology in a manner that we hope will promote its wider adoption. We hope you will consider this important project. I would like every Club in District I to support this MD 19 project. Since this is a MD19 project I feel many more clubs could and should support the program our leaders select. While we had 210 clubs who did not donate there were nearly 50 clubs that donated $500.00 or more which made them eligible for a Gordon F Smith Fellowship. These must be requested by the club to receive. Please join me in supporting CARE this fiscal year and help supply needed energy to Honduras. Thanks, Kim Davis, District I CARE chairperson ************************************************************************************ Dear Lions I hope that this email finds each one of you enjoying this Labor Day weekend. I will be enjoying 95 degree weather tomorrow as our oldest GRANDchild is getting married. The couple has been dating since junior high school, through high school, through college and 1 year removed from college. I have not seen figures for the month of August and probably will not for another week or so. The month of July had $850.00 with the Ridgefield Lions in District N donating $500.00. Hope they get a Gordon F Smith Fellowship for one of their deserving members. Asking that every District Governor will promote CARE in their club visits. CARE is a MD 19 project and we all need to be promoting CARE. This year's District Governors will probably vote and make a decision on a future CARE program. I think you would want clubs to support your decision the following two years. This is the last year for the conversion of pig manure to energy in Honduras that your predecessors decided on 2 years ago. Let's give that decision 100% support from all of us.
