THE HUNGER REPORT For District I Cabinet Meeting, Virtual Saturday, February 3, 2024 To My Fellow Cabinet Members in District I, Here we are, once again, at the time of year when local food banks are at their lowest level. It’s a perfect opportunity for our clubs to help with that situation. How? Go to the LCI website and locate the project planner entitled the Food Club Initiative. You will partner with a local food bank or similar organization, an entity that receives food. Three steps are involved in making this project work: 1. Selecting an organization to receive the food. 2. Determining the style of food collection. 3. Promoting the food collection process. It’s just that simple! This is something that’s been mentioned several times this year. Two more things that have been repeated over the year, as regards hunger issues, info available on the LCI website, are Hunger Grants and Direct Food Service. To spread the message of hunger, I’ve used our District-I bulletin and have also contacted ZCs and Lions Club Officers, regarding this information available to clubs and encouraging them to forward it on and to implement it in their clubs. On a more personal note, my home club of Leavenworth is hoping to have another food drive this spring. Last year we collected 429 pounds of food for the local food bank! It’s an easy and fulfilling project. Please think about doing a food drive soon. People are hungry out there. Thank you. Let no one go hungry…...We Serve!
