Winter Cabinet - 11 January 2025 CHILDHOOD CANCER About 130 children are diagnosed with cancer in B.C. each year. All patients under the age of 17 who might have cancer are referred to BC Children’s Hospital. Childhood cancers look different and grow differently than adult cancers and also respond to treatment differently. Treatments can affect a child's growth and development. Childhood cancers respond well to treatment and children with cancer have a better chance today of living a longer life than ever before. February 15 is International Childhood Cancer Day The theme for 2025 is "Inspiring Action" - To raise awareness about childhood cancer and to show support for children and adolescents with cancer, survivors, and their families August 2022, LCIF has awarded 4 childhood cancer-related grants totaling US$200, Linda Schaffrick, PZC
