Pennsylvania District 14-W Lions Issue 11—May 2013 www.e-district.org/sites/14w Fellow Lions, Spring has sprung. As the grass and May flowers sprout, I hope to see us add our clubs to this list of things that are growing. Use this opportunity -with more people being out and about -to also grow your club. It has been said “the only place that success comes before work is in the dictionary “. Membership is unfortunately an endless battle, but it is necessary to maintain our existence. I challenge everyone to tell one non-Lion about our great organization and invite them to a Lion hosted event (not a meeting) this summer. There is only a few weeks left before DGE Andy takes office. I ask at this time you begin to close out the year and make sure that your PU101s are in. I would also ask that we embrace our new slate of officers; this includes handing over all information and property to our incoming leadership. Go out and enjoy the weather. That being said it is a great time for clubs to get together and spruce up some part of their community. Make sure if you do it you wear your Lions shirts. Advertising in this way is a great way to get new members. Speaking of membership, the demise of the Swoyersville Club is greatly exaggerated!! They are alive and well as I write this message. We are planning a bit of a “Walk About” in their area at the end of the month and visit some local businesses to explain the joys of Li onism. On another note Gov. Dennis and I had the great opportunity to attend District U and District H’s Convention Banquets. Both districts are very active and very together. We had a good time being there and they treated us like one of their own. As an aside somewhere in this newsletter there is a photo of what seems to have been a kidnapping. Our district must get together if we intend to survive, the pettiness has to stop, and some respect and fun must be restored. Redistricting is in the future so it is up to all of us to keep our district alive and viable.!!! DGE Andy Yours in Lionism, Andrew J. Piskel 1st VDG Andy Piskel 570-455-1261 ajp668@ptd.net The District 14-U Banner was returned at a Hazelton Lions Club meeting. You may wonder why at Hazleton??? Hmmmm……...
