WE SERVE
Who are the Lions?
Lions are an international network of 1.4 million men and women working together to help people in need. One of our most well-known causes is helping the blind and visually impaired--a mission that started back in 1925 when Helen Keller asked Lions Clubs to become "Knights of the Blind".
Lions also participate in a wide variety of projects important to their communities. These range from cleaning up local parks and feeding the hungry to building ramps and providing supplies to victims of natural disasters. Most people in Michigan are also familiar with Lions' work with Leader Dogs for the Blind, KidSight programs to test children's vision, and eyeglass recycling. Lions also fund and support the Bear Lake Camp for children with disabilities and Michigan Eye-Bank, a local non-profit group that helps restore vision. Our scope and reach is limitless as we strive to live up to the Lions motto: "WE SERVE".
