Welcome to Lions Homes for Deaf People

Lions Homes for Deaf People is a committee of Lions, and community volunteers from across Ontario who are united by a common purpose: improving the lives of people who are Deaf, deafblind, and hearing impaired.

Inspired by Helen Keller's challenge to Lions to become the "Knights of the Blind," our organization has proudly expanded that spirit of service to support individuals facing hearing and communication challenges. Through the donations of Lions Clubs and the purchase of the Helen Keller Awards we work to create opportunities, remove barriers, and enhance quality of life for those we serve.

One of the highest honours presented by Lions Homes for Deaf People is the Helen Keller Award, which recognizes individuals, clubs, and organizations whose dedication and service have made a meaningful difference in the lives of people who are Deaf, deafblind, or hearing impaired. This award celebrates the compassion, leadership, and commitment that continue to strengthen our communities.

For decades, Lions, Lioness, and Leos across Ontario have demonstrated that when communities come together in service, lives can be transformed. We are proud to support programs and projects that promote accessibility, independence, education, and inclusion for individuals of all ages.

Together, we continue Helen Keller's vision by helping create a world where people who are Deaf, deafblind, and hearing impaired are empowered to reach their full potential and participate fully in their communities.
