In the words of Helen Keller, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” With that in mind, the Suffolk County Lions Diabetes Education Foundation is holding its 3rd annual Strides walk to raise funds for Diabetes education and awareness.
When diagnosed with diabetes, someone hears the words “You have diabetes” every 23 seconds and their life is changed forever. Diabetes is a chronic (long-lasting) disease that affects how your body turns food into energy. There are three main types of diabetes: type 1, type 2 and gestational diabetes. More than 100 million Americans are living with diabetes (30.3 million) or prediabetes (84.1 million).
Come join us at the Strides Walk for Diabetes Awareness at Shorefront Park located on Smith Street at touth end of Rider Avenue, Patchogue on October 23, 2021 (raindate October 24th). Sign in begins at 9:00 a.m. Walk as an individual or recruit your family, friends, co-workers and club members. Everyone is welcome to join this event with a minimum donation of $10 per person and/or advertise your club or company with a $50 marker that will line the trail or make a direct donation to the cause.
