Deal on Spot Machines

District Governors,

Please get the following information out to your clubs!

At its quarterly meeting on October 16, 2017, the Lions Sight Foundation of Virginia voted to provide matching funding for up to two (2) vision screening machines for each of Districts 24-C, 24-E, and 24-F.  This offer is ONLY for the current Lions Year 2017-2018 and ONLY for the previously noted three districts.  The offer is for individual clubs OR a group of two or more clubs who will work together OR for a District (as a whole).  The approximate cost of a new SPOT machine and printer is $7,000.00, therefore the club, clubs, or District would have to come up with approximately $3,500.00.

Welch-Allyn is now offering refurbished SPOT machines (includes a 5 year warranty).  The approximate cost for a refurbished SPOT and printer is $5,000.00.  If this option is chosen, the Sight Foundation would contribute half, or approximately $2,500.00, with the club, clubs, or District having to come up with the other approximately $2,500.00.  These prices include shipping charges.  Actual cost will be determined based on the price in effect at the time when we receive the commitment from the club(s) or District.

Funding will be awarded on a "First Come, First Served" basis for each of the three Districts.  If your club, clubs, or District has available funding, send your requests, by e-mail, to the address listed below.  At that time, specific instructions concerning the submission of funds will be given.

BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS VAN FUND:
I am asking for help not only from the clubs, but also the members.  No gift is too small and the need conveyed to us by the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Virginia is critical.  This project will be approved as a Level 2 Centennial Community Legacy Project for all clubs that choose to participate.  My hope is that at this time of year, we dig deep to make this dream a reality because so many of the young people in our district are counting on us to come through.

Thank you in advance for helping us make this project an example and message of how we as Lions fulfill our motto "WE SERVE".
