Lions of Multiple District 16 (New Jersey):
At the Council of Governor’s meeting on September 14, 2010 the council discussed the declining membership in MD 16. They felt that it was very possible that since four of our districts were below 1250 members that we would soon be notified by Lions Clubs International that MD 16 would have to present a redistricting plan.
The council decided that they would be prepared by creating a plan in advance of any notification.
The Council of Governors instructed the Constitution and By/Laws Committee to meet and design a plan and report back to them at the council meeting on November 16, 2010.
The committee met on October 15, 2010. After much discussion and looking at possible plans, a plan was designed and prepared for presentation to the council at their meeting in November.
The plan was officially presented to the Council of Governors at their November meeting After much discussion the Council of Governors voted unanimously to accept the presented plan and to make it official at their January meeting. It would be presented to the Lions in attendance at the evening meeting.
The plan as you see it must be approved by the delegates at the State Convention in May. If the delegates vote to accept the plan it will go into effect in the Lions year 2014-2015.
