DISTRICT 3-A GOVERNOR HAROLD SHORE
Harold Shore was born and raised in the Marshall area and graduated from Marshall High School in 1954, served two years in the Army and entered Phillips University in 1957. After graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Education in 1960 he taught English and history five years at Fredonia, Kansas. Served as an Elder in the Christian Church at that time and decided to enter the ministry. During a 45 year ministry he has served churches in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas and attended several seminaries and graduated from seminary with his Master of Divinity Degree. He is an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Deciples of Christ).
Along with his teaching and ministry Harold has become active in community service. He organized and got funding for the building of a 20 apartment Retirement Home while serving as the Dawn Community Improvement Association President in Dawn, Missouri.
While serving the Christian Church in Chandler he helped organize, fund and direct a Senior Citizen Center in his church and was Director of the Enid Citizen Center for two years in Enid. In more recent years he has pastored the Central Christian Church in Fairview, The Christian Church in Cleo Springs, Christian Church in Garber, and Carrier Community Church.
He joined the Garber Lions Club 2006, served as Director, Club President 2012-13, served a three year term on the Dr. Brigfgs Scholarship Board, 3-A Global Leadership Coordinator 2011-14, District 3-A Credentials and Elections Committee 2010-15, Club Bulletin Award Runnerup 2008-09, State Adult Speech Contest Winner, Hal Long Rookie of the Year 2011 and Melvin Jones Fellow.
Along with his wife Arlene they are active in Toastmasters locally and state level, Ambassadors in the Enid Chamber of Commerce, and in Lions in several capacities. Arlene and Harold have 9 grown children between them, 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grand children. He loves to hunt, trap, fish, garden, play bridge and is learning to cook. He has owned and flown his own plane, but now stays on the ground.
