District Governor’s Office Updates as of 7th Nov, 2023
Compiled by the Cabinet Secretary, Lion Dr. Lawrence Mugisha
We wish to convey special greetings from DG Office to you all Lions and thank you for continued commitment to serve our communities and for accepting Mission 1.5 million members worldwide by 2027. Towards the Mission 1.5 million members, our
District 411B has witnessed tremendous growth with net growth of 169 members (8.43%) crossing again the 2000 member mark.
As I write this report our membership stands at 2005 from 1832 members on 1st July, 2023. Congratulations to our District Governor and all Lion Leaders at various levels and entire membership
for this milestone. We now have 55 clubs having re-instated the five clubs that had been cancelled. Let us now build upon this
achievement and towards Mission 1.5 by every Lion sponsoring at least one member and we will be destained to double our
membership. Currently the global membership stands at 1,383,813 million members at a net growth of 3.05% and our
Constitution Area 8 (Africa) stands 35,830 members still lagging behind compared to other Constitution Areas. Let us reflect on
these numbers to motivate us to work even harder if we are to sustain membership growth. We have 11 clubs with membership
below 20 members categorised as Priority Clubs requiring attention and support. We call upon the respective Presidents of the
affected clubs to work with District Leadership and implement “Service with Passion”

Our registered membership growth is being reflected in the number of impactful service activities being done by the different clubs spanning all the eight expanded focus areas which include Vision, Diabetes, Childhood Cancer, Hunger, Environment, Youth, Disaster Relief and Humanitarian. In this respect as of today 7th November, 2023, we have served 877,883 people in 1111 service activities against our target of 1.5 million people by the end of the Lion Year. This is remarkable and we thank 10 clubs that have each served more than 30,000 people. The rest of the clubs are underperforming and some
clubs are not reporting any activity. Let us jointly find out what is happening to these clubs. Our District Governor has addressed
himself about this situation in all clubs he hasvisited so far. Some improvements is being registered and we can still do better with our massive leadership structure. In the same way only 8 Leo Clubs out of 30 clubs have reported service activities. It is the duty of the sponsoring clubs to ensure these Leo Clubs are active, undertaking service activities and empowered to report. As move towards the end of the half year, let us strive to tighten the loose ends and ensure clubs are growing
and serving as we as empowering their leaders. Let me now take this opportunity announce the 2nd Cabinet Meeting that will take place on 20th January, 2024 in Hotel Triangle Mbarara.
In the mean time, let us start to prepare the reports and all clubs should submit half yearly reports by 30th December, 2023.
Thank you
“Service with Passion”
