To be a source of timely and impactful support for communities in District 60A which need urgent relief or assistance for developmental programmes .
- OUR PURPOSES
The By Laws of the Foundation describes its purposes, as follows:
“ The Lions Foundation of District 60A is established to enhance the work of Lions and Leo clubs in the District as they strive to improve the quality of life of individuals and communities. It will support projects in the areas of humanitarian service and disaster relief through the careful application of funds that were solicited, collected or raised. Overall, the Foundation maintains a strong commitment to helping people achieve their potential and to implementing projects that make permanent and positive changes to individuals and communities. It favors projects that provide benefits to as many persons as possible.”

- STRATEGIC GOALS
- Promote and support the development and implementation of high impact service and humanitarian initiatives/projects by Lions and Leo clubs in District 60A in line with the Lions International Programme and the needs of the communities of District 60A
- Facilitate the building of the capacity of Lions and Leo Clubs in District 60A to identify and design high impact service projects
- Mobilise adequate resources to fund high impact service and humanitarian projects in District 60A
- Target external sources of funding and support including technical assistance from private sector, government and NGOs.
- Educate the Lions and Leos in District 60A and the general public on the objectives of the Foundation.
- Develop a strong brand and public image for the Lions Foundation of District 60A.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders including the media, government, development partners, donors and the general public
- ORGANISATION STRUCTURE:
As a volunteer organisation with limited resources available for administrative purposes, we have developed a very simple organisation structure designed to enable the work of the Foundation to be executed efficiently and effectively.
The Board of Trustees comprise nine (9) persons representative of Guyana (3), Suriname (3), Trinidad and Tobago (3).
The District Governor, the First Vice District Governor and the Second Vice District Governor are ex-Officio members of the Board.
The officers of the Foundation are: President, Vice-President, and Secretary/Treasurer.
The foundation comprises three committees:
The Development Committee will identify and select priority areas for service and review the funding requests made to the Trustees and select and make appropriate recommendations to the Trustees for granting the approval of such requests and identifying the source of funds.
The Resource Mobilisation Committee oversees the Foundation’s overall fundraising activities.
The Marketing and Communications Committee develops and maintains a positive image for the Foundation.

PROJECTS IN TRAIN:
- DISTRICT FOUNDATION ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY PROMOTION BAG
To raise awareness of environmental issues, while promoting the District Foundation
- Paediatric Cancer project in Guyana – LCI Paediatric grant
Objectives:
- Expand the current Childhood Oncology Unit from an inpatient capacity of 4 to at least 8 patients
- Fully equip the Childhood Oncology Unit with suitable equipment to manage the patients in order to prevent infection and to ensure that patients are comfortable
- Provide support to families to offset the cost to parents and families during treatment, re transportation, meals for parents
- Establish and maintain psychosocial programmes for children suffering from cancer, their parents and siblings, during and after treatment inclusive of training for care givers and support groups
- Support the establishment of a dedicated childhood cancer registry
