MD C LIONS CAVALCADE REPORT 2024

MD C Lions Cavalcade was hosted by Spruce view and District Lions Club on June 7 – 9, 2024 in Spruce view Alberta.

The MD C Lions Cavalcade for Diabetes committee held their 2024 annual event hosted by the Spruce View and District Lions club.

The event was held on the property of Lion Ted Mikkelsen, where those with RV’s camped at no cost, MDC Lions Cavalcade held their annual meeting, and the attendees took the opportunity to participate in a silent auction and due to the weather being quite cold and windy those in attendance entertained themselves with a selection of board games and fellowship.

The host club provided lunch and BBQ supper and after supper they had someone providing some music for entertainment.

There were app. 15 Lions from 8 clubs from (C-1 & C-2) in attendance as well as host club.

As we had not had a meeting since 2022, we made some significant donations at this meeting, see the following letters and email correspondence re how much and to whom they were sent.

All our donations will be used in Alberta for Research projects and Diabetic Camp Jean Nelson support.

Attn: Nicole Holder-Dulson & Tony Orangis

I am writing on behalf of the Multiple District C Lions Cavalcade for Diabetes, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting those affected by diabetes in our communities within Multiple District C (Alberta, NE BC & NWT).

It is with great pleasure that I inform you of our desire to make 2 donations to support your important work. As an organization committed to diabetes research and education, we are eager to contribute to your ongoing efforts.

Specifically, we would like to direct our donation towards two key areas: Diabetes research on Diabetic Heart Disease at University of Alberta and your annual Diabetes camp Jean Nelson program. We recognize the vital role that research plays in advancing treatments and ultimately finding a cure for this chronic condition. Additionally, we believe that your Diabetes camp provides an invaluable opportunity for children and youth living with diabetes to connect, learn, and thrive.

Enclosed you will find a bank draft in the amount of $56,750.00, of which $15,000.00 is to be used to support the Research at University of Alberta in Diabetic Heart Disease and $30,000.00 is to be used to support 12 youth to attend the Diabetic Camp Jean Nelson in Alberta, specifically youth who could benefit from the camp experience but cannot afford to attend and the balance $11,750.00 to be used to support the other programs at Camp Jean Nelson.

Thank you for your tireless work in supporting the diabetes community.

Yours truly, Dennis Stevenson, Chairperson, MD C Lions Cavalcade for Diabetes
