IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM LIONS CAVALCADE COMMITTEE

To All Lions, Lioness and Leos's of Multiple District C

I am writing to your members today to update you on what has been happening with the Lions Cavalcade for Diabetes Awareness fund raising.

As you know the Lions Cavalcade committee has been raising funds through donations from clubs like yours, and others who support diabetes awareness via the traveling diabetes resource program operated by Diabetes Canada. We have been doing this since 1987.

We thank you for your continued support for this very important and worthwhile project.

As you are all aware Covid-19 has impacted the way we as Lions serve our communities.

Diabetes Canada and Lions cavalcade are also impacted by this as well in the way we provide service.

The traveling diabetes resource program is no longer being operated in Multiple Districts C  due in part to the health restrictions currently in place re Covid-19.

Going forward however it is imperative that the population of Multiple District C has available to them the information on diabetes awareness and education so that they can maintain a healthy lifestyle.

To this end Diabetes Canada will be providing diabetes awareness and education information to all who need it in a virtual manner using digital technology.

Over the course of 2021 there will be online sessions called Peer Connect which will provide diabetes awareness and education information to all Lions, Lioness and Leo’s as well as the general public. More detailed information will be forthcoming.

The Lions of Multiple District C will be recognized as the sponsoring organization of these Peer Connect sessions in Alberta, NWT and NE BC.

As well as sponsoring these sessions Lions cavalcade is providing some sponsorship towards the diabetic camps which are called D-Camps in Alberta which are being run in a virtual manner as well, throughout the year.

Again, thank you all for your continued support of Lions cavalcade for diabetes awareness project.

More information on the Peer Connect and the D-Camp projects will be available via our Lions cavalcade website which is being updated.

2020 was a year of many changes, in the way we provide service to our communities and to those with diabetes.

Remember with teamwork “Coming together is a beginning, Keeping together is progress, Working together is a success”.

“Where there is a need there is a lion, We Serve”.

Please ensure that this information is communicated to your club members via email, club web site or printed copy.

On behalf of the MDC Lions Cavalcade Committee,

Thank you, Yours in Service,

Lion Vi Gibb, District C-1 Lions Cavalcade Chairperson

Lion Dennis Stevenson, PCC, District C-2 Lions Cavalcade Chairperson, MDC Lions Cavalcade Chairperson
