Kenneth (Ken) Shahan is coming up on his 20th year as a Lion. He started as a member in 1997, with the Adamston Lions Club. Where he learned about Lionism from his sponsor Jim Eakle and mentor Billie Nichols. Ken transferred his membership from the Adamston Lions Club in 2011, to his childhood community of Nutter Fort, where there was a sincere interest in starting a new Nutter Fort Lions Club. With the guidance of Lion Steve Glass and twenty–nine community conscious members they became Chartered Members on February 14, 2011.

Ken has been married for 41 years to his college sweetheart Paula Keeney. They have two grown and married daughters Alicia and Brittany and they were blessed on February 18, 2015 with their first grandsons Evan and Grant. Ken is a member of the First Baptist Church of Nutter Fort, were he has served as a Deacon for 28 years and the Adult & Youth Activities Director. He is a graduate of Roosevelt-Wilson High School (69), and Fairmont State College (73). Ken serves on the Advisory Board for the Salvation Army based in Clarksburg and he owns United Tile & Carpet, the oldest independent floor covering business in Central West Virginia.

He has served in several different capacities in the growth of the Nutter Fort Club: President, First Vice President, Club Secretary, Way’s & Mean Chairman, Co-Chaired Sight & Hearing and has served on the Clubs, Board of Directors for five years. In 2014-2015, he was asked by the then District Governor Doug Long to serve as Zone 8 Chairperson.

           IP Wayne Madden.

  • Zone Chairman (4) Lion Paw Awards from IP Joe Preston 2014-2015.

  • Melvin Jones Recipient May 18, 2014- 2015.

  • District 29-I Secretary/Treasurer 2015-2016 (Appointed by DG Albert Cox).

  • Elected District 29-I SVDG 2015-2016 @ MD State Convention in Charleston, WV May 3, 2015.

  • International President Leadership Metal from IP Joe Preston, at District 29-I Fall Conference 2014-2015.

  • Received Club Excellence Pin for 2014-2015.

  • Received Centennial Sponsor Awards: (1)2014-2015, (2)2015-2016.

  • Elected 29-I FVDG 2016-2017 @ MD State Convention in Pipestem Resort on April 9, 2016.

  • Leonard Jarrett Recipient June 2015-2016

  • International President Certificate of Excellence as Club Secretary 2015-2016 from Dr. Jitsuhiro Yamada.

Ken is counting on you, as you are counting on him to help our District grow by working together and learning from each other. Through that we can become better members, better clubs and a better District if we all get involved.
