Twenty Six Lions, Leos, Scouts and parents participated in the Calhan Lions Club semi-annual “Fun-Run-in-the-Sun” highway cleanup by picking up trash along both sides of Highway 24 for one mile East of Calhan on Saturday, September 17, 2016.

The Calhan Lions Club held their annual "Kids Spree" on August 6th.

In cooperation with Pikes Peak Community Action Agency, identify 100 "income challenged" school kids and take them on a shopping spree to provide school clothes, supplies and backpacks. Many of the volunteers are honorary "Lions-for-a-Day" members of the local community to act as "Shoppers" with the kids. This activity usually occurs in early August. On August 6, 101 children went shopping with Calhan Lions Club members and "lions-for-a-day". With grants from Wal-Mart, Mountain View Electric's Round Up Fund that provides the funds for this project.

Thanks to PDG Monty Whitney for supplying us the photos and information.

Tri-Lakes Lions are beginning early activities for a Leo Club for High School members in our area.
Here are pictures of the members who supported The Town of Monument Small Town Christmas festivities. Hot chocolate helped our Leos begin telling our community there is a new Teenager Service Club in town.
It was a chilly and windy day, but our LEOs handed out the hot chocolate next to the ice rink and kept everyone warm with their joy, happiness, and willingness/energy to serve. ROAR! THEY SERVE! What a great group.

At our Tri-Lakes Lions Club Christmas meeting, Lion Don Rose (Our Charter Guiding Lion along with Lion Monty) acted as Master of Ceremony and had the honor to swear in three new members of Tri-Lakes Lions. Left to right, new Lions Jeff and Kathryn, Lion Don, new Lion Chris, and two Tri-Lakes sponsors Lions Jim and Stan.

Lion Don spoke of the traditions of Lions in service to community in our local area as well as Lions International work world-wide. He reminded each member of the dedication to service and Lions willingness to make a positive difference around the world.

Tri-Lakes Lions Club awarded a $2,500 College Scholarship check to Shannon Cornuke at our September monthly membership meeting.

Shannon's accomplishments in community service are amazing, all the while struggling and winning against a severe medical challenge. Awarding the scholarship is our District 6SE Gov Cathy Valenzuela, our Tri-Lakes Lions Club President Lion Dave Prejean, and our school district Lions Coordinator Lion Bob Foster who proudly stood with Shannon, along with tears and applause from our club members, cheering Shannon's accomplishments, courage, and strength of character.

Our Country and our Lions Club International are certainly in safe hands with outstanding citizens such as Shannon leading the way into the future. ROAR!
