Greetings, Multiple District 39 Lions!
Welcome, to the beginning of an exciting new Lion year! I am grateful to be serving as your 2024-2025, Multiple District (MD) Council Chair. I am very excited about the amazing MD Council team we have in place this year! Lions from both Districts 39E and 39W have agreed to serve. Be sure to read the list of MD Council Lions and their positions. We also have a dynamic team of Lions serving on the MD39 Convention committee.
A new Multiple District 39 committee position is “MD Sunshine.” If a Multiple District Lion or, club would like to have a beautiful, handmade card sent for an occasion from MD39, you can email a request to lionsmd39sunshine@gmail.com This email is set up specifically for MD Sunshine requests and upon receipt, our MD39 Lion Sunshine chair will create and mail a card to the designated recipient. It will be signed “From MD39 CC Betty Simpson and the Lions of MD39.” Check out the brief Q & A, Sunshine article in this newsletter for details.
My Council Chair tagline theme this year is “Planting & Harvesting the Seeds of Lionism.” It references Lions leadership, membership, and service while reflecting the beauty of our agricultural based Multiple District.
With my Warm & Enthusiastic Regards,
Lion MD39 CC Betty Simpson

MD 39 Sunshine Q & A
Q- Does this replace an individual club’s Sunshine committee?
A- No. Clubs can continue having their club Sunshine send out cards. This just offers another option for an additional card specifically from our MD.
Q- What should my MD Sunshine request include?
A- Please, include the occasion for the card, card recipient’s name and mailing address. If necessary, include a specific mailing date for the card.

Facebook Scams
I have noticed an increase in phishing messages on Facebook recently, which threaten to disable the Club’s Facebook account. Be careful, a scammer is attempting to get information in order to place malware on your device and steal your information.
The latest message received on my club’s Facebook page, which showed up in the Messenger inbox is:
“We regret to inform you that your account is facing deactivation due to violations of our Terms of Service. Recent activity on your account does not align with our guidelines. To avoid permanent deletion, please take a moment to verify your account.
This simple process will ensure continued access:◉ http://business.demonstrate-infopage.com/case/226807676074
Failure to complete verification may result in automatic account suspension. We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a safe environment for all users.
Terms of Service Team © 2024 Inc”
We have received other notifications claiming that a post violated community standards and copywrite laws. The post in question did not have anything not in the public domain.
The Help Center has a lot of great information about Facebook and the potential to appeal a decision, it is located under the profile picture in the upper right-hand corner of the Facebook page.
Things to watch for
The official Facebook emails come from an @Facebook.com address
Check any URLs as they may contain links which download malware to your device. Security software such as McAfee or Norton may indicate an unsafe URL.
Watch for urgency. Scammers want you to act quickly, legitimate Facebook messages don’t threaten immediate ban or deletion.
Facebook does not have a call center that you can call.
The Support Inbox will have a message concerning legitimate warnings.
(information for the article above was gleaned from the Identity Guard Website, Channel 4, Columbus Ohio, and Facebook)
The newest Facebook page “Lions Multiple District 39-Southern Idaho and Eastern Oregon” is up and running, along with YouTube and Instagram. The Facebook page is public and will have posts and information from both Districts. The YouTube Channel is Marketing Multiple District 39 and there are videos about hearing screening, Envision and vision screening and more to come. The Instagram page is Lionsmd39marketing and will also have posts from various clubs in MD39.

17 years ago, I made one of the best decisions of my life! I became a Lion, and joined the Weiser Lions Club. My husband (Jim) had already been a Lion for some time. A college friend joined the club before me and became my sponsor. Four months later, I was elected the club’s secretary and my journey at the club, district, and Multiple District levels began. Over the years, I have held a variety of Lion positions (club, District, MD) with the most recent ones being 39W District Governor, MD39 PDG Association President, LCIF Multiple District Coordinator. Currently, I serve as the marketing chair, LCIF chair and administrator for my home club.
I truly enjoy being of volunteer service, connecting with other Lions, being creative, and doing those high kicks while sharing my enthusiasm/love of being a Lion! Joining Lions has been a perfect niche’ for me!
My husband and I have been married 53 years; have two grown children and two grandsons. I also enjoy being a volunteer master trainer for the Idaho Fit & Fall Proof program at the Weiser site.
With My Lion Spirit & Enthusiasm,
MD 39 CC, PDG Betty Simpson

My name is Lisa Allen, I am the District Governor for 39E.
I have been a Lion for 10 years and I'm in the Chubbuck Lions Club. My theme this year is Join. Serve. Grow. Be A Lion! I am super excited to serve the Lions of my District & our communities together. Southeast Idaho is a wonderful place to live, and I know we are going to grow Lions by continuing to serve together each and every project. “Making our Mark” on our Community and our individuals will be a key to our success. This will make our growth monumental.

I was born in Ontario Oregon and raised in Payette Idaho. I married Bob Jensen in 1973 and we had two children. We lived outside of Portland for 10 years. Bob’s job transferred us back to the Payette area at that time I joined the Payette Lioness Club. Later on our club transitioned to Payette Syringa Lions. I have held several officer positions in both clubs in the last 30+ years. My husband passed away 4 ½ years ago. Currently I am the President of our Club. In 2020 my sister Billie moved into the area, and I asked her to join the Payette Syringa Lions. Billie Wood and I are co-cochair of both 39W and multi district 39 newsletters.
