District N 2 History
Our district encompasses the province of Nova Scotia, often referred to as "Canada's Ocean Playground."
Lionism first came to Nova Scotia in 1945 with the chartering of a club in the province's capital, the city of Halifax. We are one of four sub-districts in Multiple District N, the Atlantic provinces of Canada.
The same year clubs were chartered in Dartmouth and Middleton. In 1946, four more clubs were chartered in Bedford, Parrsboro, Shubenacadie and Truro. Lionism moved into Cape Breton in 1948 with the charter of clubs in New Waterford and Sydney.
We are proud to have had two International Directors from our district who represented Constitutional Area 2 on the LCI Board. PID Lion Len Giffen and PID Lion Jim Sherry served the Lions of Nova Scotia with distinction during their terms.
